The wines nominated for AOC Mělník are produced in a special way, in order to differ from common wines in Mělník wine region. The grapes must be picked manually and meet a certain quality level.
The wine must not be vinificated in barrique barrels. The wine must have typical sensory characteristics of its variety and the Melnik region. The residual sugar level is limited to 12g/l.
Only the following varieties can apply for AOC or VOC Mělník: Pinot noir, Riesling and Riesling-Sylvaner.
